Demographic Evolution
According to Statistics Canada's last census, there were 125,000 habitants in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.

The population is increasing regularly. Since 1986, the population growth is approximately 4.2% annually. Some municipalities are growing faster than anticipated. Workforce

Availability in the Work Force
The active population of those who are 15 years and older is over 75,000 individuals.

A large number of the active population live within the urban suburbs of Vaudreuil-Soulanges, but work outside the region. These numbers represent approximately 25% of the active population for whom we can create jobs closer to their home.

Education Level
69% of the active population of Vaudreuil-Soulanges are high school graduates. Close to 40% have post secondary studies of which half are university graduates.

Bilingualism
More than 51% of the population speak two languages. This is a very impressive rate.

Salaries and Wages
Salaries in Vaudreuil-Soulanges are slightly inferior to those of Montreal.

Reliability of the Work Force
Historically, Vaudreuil-Soulanges has been spared of work conflicts. Reliability of the work force is unquestionable for every economic sector. No work conflicts have been seen in the region for many years which confirms the good work relations between employees and employers.


Public services

Education
Elementary, Secondary, and Professional Schooling.

Elementary and secondary schooling is available in English and French in the region.

The 'Cité des Jeunes' comprehensive high school in Vaudreuil offers an array of additional courses for a multitude of trades: mechanics for heavy vehicles, technical machining, operation of water purification plant, electromechanical, and office automation, just to name a few.

The 'College Bourget de Rigaud' is a well-reputed institution for secondary schooling.

Vaudreuil Catholic High School is an anglophone institution. Protestant schools are in the West Island of Montreal.

Secondary 5 examination results from the Quebec Ministry of Education reveal that students in Vaudreuil-Soulanges obtain a higher grade average than the rest of Quebec in the following subjects: English as a Second Language, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and French as First Language.

Post Secondary Education
At the post–secondary level, there are two junior colleges with technical and general curriculums. Cegep de Valleyfield for general and professional studies in French, and also offers a work-study program for students.

John Abbott College in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue on the West Island provides general and professional education in both English and French, and offers specialized industrial and commercial programs. At the request of business organizations, the college offers training in various business sectors as well as providing job placement for its students.

At the university level, students go to Montreal or Ottawa, where most of the reputable universities such as McGill University, University of Montreal, and Carleton University are established. Furthermore, the McGill Department of Agronomy, well known in Canada and around the world, is located in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, right next to Vaudreuil-Soulanges.

Health Care
Seven private medical centers and three community health centres called CLSCs are established in Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The large hospitals of Montreal as well as Pointe-Claire and Valleyfield are easily accessible (20 minutes from Vaudreuil).

Numerous healthcare professionals (dentists, denturologists, optometrists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, dietitians, and acupuncturists) have established their offices throughout the region.

There are also 17 private retirement homes for seniors and 2 homes for the physically or mentally challenged, as well as one private long-term care hospital.

Security
The Vaudreuil-Soulanges region has a very low crime level, considerably lower than the provincial average. Public security is assured by the Quebec Provincial Police.
